Endodontics

In some cases, due to a deep tooth decay, previous multi- treatment, cracking or fracture of the tooth, the pulp of the tooth gets infected. This can cause pain, swelling and abscesses. In such case it is necessary to perform an endodontic procedure called root canal therapy. The procedure involves removing the pulp, and very accurate filling the empty root canal with suitable material. Before the treatment is performed X-ray is taken, which allows to accurately determine the number and the condition of the canals. Then infected canals are subjected to careful cleaning and chemical disinfection. Once all bacteria are removed, the dentist proceeds to fill the canals and restore the natural shape of the tooth. The treatment is performed under local anesthesia and sometimes can require several appointments.
